A Complete Aftercare Guide to Getting the Most from Your Treatment
Looking after your treatment properly afterwards is just as important as the appointment itself. A little care in the days following your visit makes a real difference to how long your results last and how good they continue to look.
Below, we have shared aftercare guidance for each of our main services. If you have any questions or are unsure about anything after your appointment at Glossiva Beauty Studio, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to help.
Eyelash Extensions Aftercare
Your lash extensions are applied using a professional-grade adhesive that needs a little time to fully settle. Following these steps will help your lashes last longer, look better, and keep your natural lashes in great condition underneath.
First 24 Hours
- Keep your lashes completely dry for the first 24 hours after your appointment. Avoid swimming, showering with direct water on the face, steam rooms, saunas, and hot baths during this time.
- Avoid heavy exercise or anything that causes excessive sweating because the moisture and heat can weaken the adhesive bond before it has fully cured.
- Do not apply any eye makeup, including mascara or eyeliner, within the first 24 hours.
- Try to sleep on your back if possible, or use a silk pillowcase to reduce friction on your lashes overnight.
Ongoing Care
- Avoid all oil-based products around the eye area. Oils, including those found in cleansers, moisturisers, and makeup removers, break down the adhesive and cause extensions to shed prematurely. Always check the label before applying anything near your eyes.
- Clean your lashes daily using a dedicated lash cleanser and a soft cleansing brush. Built-up makeup, natural oils, and debris shorten the life of your extensions and can irritate if left uncleaned.
- Cleanse more frequently (morning and evening) if you have oily skin, exercise regularly, swim, or wear eye makeup.
- Gently brush your lashes each morning with a clean spoolie to keep them neat and prevent them from crossing or tangling.
- Avoid rubbing your eyes or touching your lashes throughout the day. It is a habit that is easy to form but causes real damage to the extensions and the natural lashes beneath.
- Do not use a clamp-style eyelash curler on your extensions. It will damage both the extensions and your natural lashes. A spoolie brush is all you need to keep them looking their best.
- If you wear eye makeup, use only oil-free products and remove them gently with an oil-free makeup remover before cleansing your lashes properly before bed.
- Prolonged exposure to heat, such as regular sauna use, hot yoga, or direct sunlight, can affect the adhesive bond over time. Occasional exposure is fine, but try to limit it where possible.
- Book your infill appointment every two to three weeks to keep your lashes looking full and symmetrical. You will need at least 40% of your extensions remaining to qualify for an infill. Anything less will be treated as a fresh full set.
- Never attempt to remove your extensions at home. Pulling them off can remove your natural lashes with them. Always book a professional removal with your technician.
* A quick note on cleansing: Clean lashes are healthy lashes. Daily cleansing is one of the single most important things you can do to extend the life of your extensions and protect your natural lashes. If you are ever unsure which cleanser to use, just ask. We are happy to recommend one that works for your skin type.
