A Complete Aftercare Guide to Getting the Most from Your Treatment

Looking after your treatment properly afterwards is just as important as the appointment itself. A little care in the days following your visit makes a real difference to how long your results last and how good they continue to look.

Below, we have shared aftercare guidance for each of our main services. If you have any questions or are unsure about anything after your appointment at Glossiva Beauty Studio, please do not hesitate to get in touch. We are always happy to help.

Eyelash Extensions Aftercare

Your lash extensions are applied using a professional-grade adhesive that needs a little time to fully settle. Following these steps will help your lashes last longer, look better, and keep your natural lashes in great condition underneath.

First 24 Hours

  • Keep your lashes completely dry for the first 24 hours after your appointment. Avoid swimming, showering with direct water on the face, steam rooms, saunas, and hot baths during this time.
  • Avoid heavy exercise or anything that causes excessive sweating because the moisture and heat can weaken the adhesive bond before it has fully cured.
  • Do not apply any eye makeup, including mascara or eyeliner, within the first 24 hours.
  • Try to sleep on your back if possible, or use a silk pillowcase to reduce friction on your lashes overnight.

Ongoing Care

- Avoid all oil-based products around the eye area. Oils, including those found in cleansers, moisturisers, and makeup removers, break down the adhesive and cause extensions to shed prematurely. Always check the label before applying anything near your eyes.

- Clean your lashes daily using a dedicated lash cleanser and a soft cleansing brush. Built-up makeup, natural oils, and debris shorten the life of your extensions and can irritate if left uncleaned.

- Cleanse more frequently (morning and evening) if you have oily skin, exercise regularly, swim, or wear eye makeup.

- Gently brush your lashes each morning with a clean spoolie to keep them neat and prevent them from crossing or tangling.

- Avoid rubbing your eyes or touching your lashes throughout the day. It is a habit that is easy to form but causes real damage to the extensions and the natural lashes beneath.

- Do not use a clamp-style eyelash curler on your extensions. It will damage both the extensions and your natural lashes. A spoolie brush is all you need to keep them looking their best.

- If you wear eye makeup, use only oil-free products and remove them gently with an oil-free makeup remover before cleansing your lashes properly before bed.

- Prolonged exposure to heat, such as regular sauna use, hot yoga, or direct sunlight, can affect the adhesive bond over time. Occasional exposure is fine, but try to limit it where possible.

- Book your infill appointment every two to three weeks to keep your lashes looking full and symmetrical. You will need at least 40% of your extensions remaining to qualify for an infill. Anything less will be treated as a fresh full set.

- Never attempt to remove your extensions at home. Pulling them off can remove your natural lashes with them. Always book a professional removal with your technician.

* A quick note on cleansing: Clean lashes are healthy lashes. Daily cleansing is one of the single most important things you can do to extend the life of your extensions and protect your natural lashes. If you are ever unsure which cleanser to use, just ask. We are happy to recommend one that works for your skin type.

Nails Aftercare

Whether you have had acrylics, gel, soft gel, polygel, or a classic manicure, a little aftercare goes a long way. These tips apply across all nail services unless stated otherwise.

First 24–48 Hours

  • Avoid prolonged contact with water for the first 24 hours. This includes long baths, washing up without gloves, and swimming. Water exposure before the product has fully hardened can affect adhesion and longevity.
  • For acrylic and hard gel nails, avoid any impact or pressure on the tips straight after your appointment. The product needs a little time to settle fully before your nails are back to full strength.
  • Avoid exposing your nails to strong chemicals or cleaning products without gloves during the first 48 hours.

Ongoing Care

  • Wear gloves when washing up, cleaning, or using household chemicals. This is the single most effective thing you can do to extend the life of your nails. Harsh detergents weaken both the product and the natural nail underneath.
  • Keep your nails and cuticles moisturised with a nourishing cuticle oil, applied daily. Well-hydrated nails and cuticles reduce the risk of lifting, cracking, and breakage.
  • Avoid using your nails as tools for opening packaging, scraping surfaces, or anything similar. This is one of the most common causes of breakage, regardless of the product used.
  • If a nail breaks or lifts, do not attempt to pull or peel the product off yourself. This will damage your natural nail beneath. Book an appointment to have it repaired or removed safely.
  • For gel and acrylic nails, book an infill appointment every two to three weeks to keep your nails looking neat and to prevent stress on the natural nail as it grows out.
  • For gel polish, avoid peeling the polish off even if it starts to lift at the edges because peeling removes layers of the natural nail with it. Book a removal instead.
  • Between appointments, a light application of a nail strengthener or base coat over gel polish can help protect the surface and extend the finish.
  • Always have your nails removed professionally. This is especially important for acrylics and hard gel. Improper removal causes thinning and damage to the natural nail that takes weeks to grow out.

* Cuticle oil is your best friend: Apply it daily, especially around the sides and base of each nail. It keeps the skin around your nails healthy, reduces lifting, and makes your nails look well-maintained between appointments.

Pedicure Aftercare

Your pedicure results will last much longer with a little regular upkeep at home. These steps are straightforward and take only a couple of minutes each day. But they make a noticeable difference to how your feet look and feel between appointments.

Ongoing Care

  • Allow any nail polish or gel to fully dry before putting on socks, tights, or closed footwear. Even if the surface feels dry to the touch, the product beneath may still be setting. So, give it at least 30 minutes where possible.
  • For a gel pedicure, avoid soaking your feet in water for the first 24 hours to allow the gel to fully bond.
  • If you have had an exfoliating treatment as part of your spa pedicure, your skin may feel more sensitive than usual for a few hours. Avoid very hot water on your feet that evening.
  • Wear open-toed shoes or flip-flops home from your appointment if you can. This prevents smudging and keeps the finish intact.

  • Moisturise your feet every day, paying particular attention to the heels and the soles. A good foot cream applied after a shower, when the skin is slightly damp, absorbs well and keeps the skin soft between appointments.
  • Use a pumice stone or a foot file on your heels and soles once or twice a week to gently manage any dry or rough skin build-up. This keeps your feet looking and feeling their best and means your next pedicure appointment achieves even better results.
  • Keep your toenails trimmed straight across to prevent ingrown toenails. Avoid cutting down the sides or rounding the corners too sharply.
  • Apply cuticle oil to your toenails regularly, just as you would with your fingernails. It keeps the nail and surrounding skin healthy and helps your polish or gel last longer.
  • For gel pedicures, do not peel the polish off if it begins to lift. Book a removal appointment to avoid taking layers of the natural toenail with it.
  • Wear breathable socks and well-fitting footwear day to day. Tight or synthetic footwear can cause moisture build-up, which affects the condition of the skin and the longevity of your nail finish.
  • Book a maintenance pedicure every four to six weeks to keep on top of skin care, nail shape, and overall foot health. Regular appointments are far more effective than one treatment after a long gap.

* Little and often is the key: A minute of moisturising and a quick toenail tidy-up each week keeps your feet in good shape year-round. The more consistently you look after them at home, the better every pedicure appointment at Glossiva will be.
